Fraud SCAM Fraud Claimed to be from Vodaphone, said that an attempt to change my account number had been flagged up, called my number to verify with an old address (first flag) Second flag was when I asked if I could have a verification email I received a what amounted to a "yes but hurry up and give me the number" And of course, when I received a recovery/account change text, the first words of said text were DO NOT TELL ANYONE THIS NUMBER, POLICE OR VODAPHONE EMPLOYEES INCLUDED. Information 07355 118732 sent me a text message. HSBC: Direct Debit successfully set up to EE for 183GBP, if this was NOT YOU call us on 01313785729. I don`t bank with HSBC, but anyway, tried to call the number given. This just rings for a couple of minutes then get a message saying the mailbox is full. Therefore, both the mobile and landline numbers given are SPAM.

Completely unnerved, I said that Action Fraud would be delighted to hear about it and then I rang off without giving any of my details. This has got me really, really worried. I do my utmost to keep everything secure, with passwords, 3 step authentication, etc. How has he got in?

Amazon scam from Asian call centre. Supposed fraudulent transaction on my Amazon account. Asked me to give six number code sent to me in SMS from Amazon - This was my two step verification code to change my password. All they need to get this sent to you is your Amazon account linked phone number. I did of course refuse.

Cynical call, a day after receiving a SSE dividend, an unsolicited call from the USA about my share holding. An Indian sounding person, in a call centre, who had to asked on whose behalf he was calling. Then said it was some form of financial company. As if one would talk about your shares to an unknown person, acting for an off-shore company. Initially he was trying to make me believe he was connected to SSE.
