My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. Received a phone call from this number today citing consumer services and something about a refund due to an overpayment on a loan taken out within the last 12 years ( I haven t). I asked him for details on this loan and he questioned me back asking well haven t you? . I retorted back well you tell me since you re the one here calling me. He hung up.
