He remainded polite and calm but still keen to get more information, WITHOUT giving HIS organisation's details.

Claimed to be paid by Microsoft, insisted I switch on my computer which supposedly had a virus. Resisted and argued when challenged, became abusive and continued to try to persuade me (but failed). Threatened to block my connection. I told him where to go and hung up. He called back three times in a different voice and got told again where to go! One of many scammers trying the same old gag. They said they were calling from HMRC, however HMRC never calls mobile numbers. Phone scams are a common way for criminals to con people out of money using various tricks to get your personal or financial information. Received a call from this number. The man said he was calling from Sky regarding an unpaid bill. The thing was, said bill had been paid over a week ago, which I told him. He then apologized and ended the call. So I guess it s a legitimate. He didn t ask for any personal information and asked for me by name.
