Said I had been in a car accident (well I didn't know that I had, was news to me) and wanted to help me claim compensation.
SCAM / SPAM Automated like claiming to be BT stating that broadband will be cut off in 24 hours due to suspicious activity.
Received SMS pretending to be HMRC saying I was due a rebate. Included a link to website where, it said, I could verify my identity. I did not follow the link, of course. Reported to Action Fraud as phishing attempt.

SCAM Three phone calls in four hours from someone who claimed to be from Amazon, saying an i.pad was waiting for me if I hadn't ordered it press number 1 to speak with his supervisor who take loads of details and stop it being sent, please don't hesitate to hang up. Don t answer any unknown numbers, they are all scams, PPI, accident claims, Passwords for your banks, phishing, and if it is too good to be true it Bloody well is don t be conned, report all of these callers get them to be prosecuted as they are illegally calling me everyone, as under the DPA, if we report them to the Information Commissioner they have been successfully prosecuted last one was fined ( ?1,350,000 ) alone company this year

Called and an automated but very convincing message said she was calling because I d been in a car accident that wasn t my fault (I haven t). The script is timed to coincide with your answer, most likely a phishing or other scam to get personal details.
Asked whether I was from Kettering, Corby or Wellingborough and got shitty with me when I asked what it was about - was told nothing more than its was grassroots campaign and that when she knew which town, she could tell me more. I hung up.
CAlled twice this morning.Automatic message saying my Internet provider will cut me off within 24 hours. Certainly a scam.
