An male idiot called me to follow up on a brochure I had ordered. I told him I previously did arrange for a home visit and these planks cancelled it at 2 hours notice citing a broken down car. I told him that this was a lame excuse - hadn’t they heard of car hire? He kept saying “ we can foretell a breakdown” repeatedly! Asian sounding company keep phoning saying they are doing marketing, then proceed to ask a string of questions about age, marital status, life insurance, phone provider, IT provider, TV package provider. I kept saying I didn t want any more phone calls and where this information was going, he kept ignoring me and asking the same questions saying they would not contact again but wouldn t say that they would not pass the information on to other parties. Told me to go to my computer and go to a named web site. Obviously a con and this was a young Asian female not the abusive male described by others. Told her I didn t have a computer cos I m a poor student

Has rung me around 10 times in the last day, a couple of times I have answered and I the caller has hung up. I thing they are so used to people not answering, they are shocked when someone answers and he just hung up.

The number is an Aldershot number. Called and spoke to my young son asking for a Mr Rogers. Rang again the following morning. He was a polite enough guy but he wouldn t tell me anything. Quite obvious it was a debt collection agency. I asked him why he was still ringing when he was told the previous day there was no-one of that name against my home number and actually I had my number for over 11 years. He told me he was going to remove my number from his list. Very apologetic. We ll see......

did my usual for a number I don t know, answered phone, but kept quiet, waited for the other end to say something. as usual, a couple of seconds and the machine at the other end hung up.

Didn t answer the call and came here to check the number. Lots of these apparently foreign numbers are actually originating in the UK by using software diallers that mask the caller s true location.As other posters suggest, a good rule of thumb is - if the number looks suspicious it probably is.
