When you answer your phone and if it s a number you don t recognise, DON T SPEAK JUST LISTEN! Wait for the caller to speak first and then decide whether to simply put the phone down. If it s a recorded message, it ll nearly always be a scam or a computer dialling a batch of numbers in sequence and trying to assertain if the number they have just dialled is a voice line. i.e. a private phone number. A call stating they were from the Citizens Advice regarding debts and then thankfully call got cut off as I kept asking why they were calling!!!

Had this number call me everyday. It s an automated machine call. I am going to email the company and tell them I will be charging them ?6 per call I receive plus another ?6 per minute duration of the call. And ?10 per letter / email I have to send them after.

Money scam. They pose as a photography company (Imagethirst), offering free photo shoots, asking for a deposit first(usually ?40-?50). They have been known to tell you that you are a prize winner for other things also, and pose as other companies.

Had a call from the CIB wanting me to do a survey. Fourth one in a week and all from different numbers. Guy would not take no about the dumb ass survey so terminated the call.

They hung up without speaking a few seconds after I answered. I suspect an insurance scam after reading comments on here coupled with an attempted fraud on my insurance a few years ago. They are based in Manchester where my broker is and I live in the south. Draw your own conclusions.

DO NOT ANSWER - Scam call from an Asian call centre, openly admitting to charging a premium rate for connecting your call. They begin the conversation stating they are a government scheme aimed at helping pay back loans etc. I received racial abuse from the caller while trying to get information out of him. Have checked all phone records to see if any charges have come through but none as yet, but am unaware if the included minutes have covered this somehow. BLOCK & REPORT.

Have previously had about three missed calls from this number - just picked up the latest call and they informed me that I d had a car accident at some point since July 2010 - I have never had a car accident, thank goodness. I asked them where they got this information from - they said they purchased these details from a company and had got them as I had registered the accident but hadn t claimed anything.
