Had a call claiming to be HMRC saying I've committed tax fraud and that action was being taken against me. I was told to press 1 to find out more so I hung up as I have read somewhere that as soon as you press a number, your phone can be hacked or something bad like that. I know for a fact that I haven't committed tax fraud and I don't think HMRC would phone. They usually send letters in the first instance. Therefore I'm flagging this up as dangerous.

This is an outbound caller ID for healthcare services in the Cambridgeshire area. The number does not accept incoming calls and is used where patients only accept calls from non-witheld callers.
They say they are calling from UK Pensions - no company name ask about your pension schemes and if you are contributing. When you say you don't contribute to private pension they say this call is not for you and hang up !!!

So I do not know how they will extract money from me unless they send bill to Tesco. I do not know whether to text back. To me it seems a bit concerning to text some scammer. But it seems outrageous that they can charge you for accidentally opening a box stat EE have set up in the phone. Where is their integrity?
