These guys call saying they are from EE and offering special deals. Then they asked for my personal information. When I questioned why they needed my data they stated that the number they called on (which appeared on my handset) if listed on the EE website under the security section. I hung up and checked. No such number on EE s website, so I call a contact I have at EE and she checked and stated the number is most definitely NOT EE and I should not treat the call as an EE authorised call. Caller identified herself as Julie Smith from Signet Advice (as far as I could tell with some background noise). Said she d been informed I was recently injured in a car accident that wasn t my fault. I asked her how she knew that. She replied that she was sorry to bother me and would remove my phone number from their database and hung up on me without pausing for breath. Pond scum. (My number is registered with TPS and I can t stand talking to idiots so I ve reported them)
SCAM The lady identified herself as Linda and spoke with an Indian accent, knew my postcode and said she was calling about my boiler cover, which is on a high tariff that can be lowered. I pointed out we have no cover, she tried the spiel asking how old it was. I told her it is only a few years old, paid for outright and under warranty. I told her I thought she was trying to scam me and we are TPS registered. She said sorry you would receive another call.
