Just been rung on 01273 655031 about my washing machine and fridge freezer insurance taken out last May for £154 in my sons name at our address. He has not lived here for over 10 years. These guys are calling you with an amazing offer that u cannot refuse. It is just an trading scam where you need to give them money for trading.
I believe they re trying to find numbers which are "live" so they can sell them on to telemarketers and other unscrupulous types. Grotty little businesses. The best way of doing that is calling and then seeing which phones get answered. If a phone is answered then it must be "live" so they hang up and that number is sold on to a 3rd party. Then if you own the number and you answered you get even more nuisance calls.
As the number uses my local dialling code I thought it was a legitimate number, but they talk about you being involved in an accident.

Just took a call from this number - they asked for me by name and then said I had recently entered a competition and thats how they got my number and they wanted to save me money on my power supplier - I politely explained I wasnt the bill payer and wasn t interested. The guy then demanded to speak to the bill payer - I told him they are not available and not interested. He then went on a rant at me - at which point I hung up and blocked the number.
