Car accident scam.

Automated answer informed me that my national insurance and bank accounts had been suspended. A crime number had been issued and court proceedings instigated. I was to press “1” to speak to operative. Safe to say I hung up. Strangely the actual phone number is very close to my own phone number….only a couple of digits out.

Wanted to give me a discount as I was a loyal customer. Then tried to get my bank details and debit card number to check that I was the correct customer. When I put the phone down a supervisor called me back and asked the same questions, when I said that they should know I didn t pay my bills by debit card and that I thought the call was a scam he cut the call.
Tis person phoned my mobile saying they are CARPHONE WAREHOUSE with special deals?
This number sent me a message saying my o2 payment had failed and to try again. Link took me to a fake o2 account sign in page. I am not with o2 so clearly an attempt to harvest sign in details.
Twitter seems to have had the desired result. Only 1 call since I posted this. Asian male, very aggressive, calling from Brummie Refunds, Birmingham. Trying to con ppl into PPI refunds. Hardly spoke English, probably shipped in on the back of the lorry and working for £1 an hour. Caller shouted everything, "I sign you up, I sign you up!!" Very intimidating. The government needs lynching for allowing this to happen.

I was asked if I had applied for a job they were advertising through Total Jobs.
I believe it is someone who called the wrong number. I got a caller on my mobile. I have my number for more than 10 years. I think she misdialled from her phone. She asked for Gemma. I just said there is no Gemma and she got the wrong number. I can't say if this is a trick or not.
