When you answer your phone and if it s a number you don t recognise, DON T SPEAK JUST LISTEN! Wait for the caller to speak first and then decide whether to simply put the phone down. Terrifying automated message said they were from the national crime agency and that my national insurance number would be suspended because it was involved in fraudulent activity and to press 1 to talk to an advisor and reiterated over firmly PRESS 1 NOW. Shocking

Insurance. Very suspicious. The caller claimed to be calling about renewal of an insurance policy on my washing machine. He sounded convincing until he said he wanted to confirm my bank details. I asked him to tell me what details he had and he said he didn't have that information and wanted me to give them to him. Naturally, I refused to do this and he quickjy terminated the conversation. This is probably an attempted fraud.
