I tried to book a room at The Principal Oxford Spires Hotel, Abingdon Road, OX1 4PS, Oxford and called a number 08448542910 indicated on their website. I had to call twice as there was an automated telephone service and no one was able to answer my phone calls. Last month I saw a charge of 1.38 GBP plus VAT on my phone bill!! What a wrong way to make money!! Looks like the hotel is doing that badly so they have to charge potential customers to simply book a room. According to the reviews on the above number

Called and like others, reported to be from Microsoft, said that they had the serial number of windows that was reporting that my computer was being hacked as we spoke by a criminal gang (how ironic!) and that they were from an agency who needed to stop the gang by stemming the flow through my PC.....Said we know an IT expert who we would ask to take a look ourselves, he (called himself Peter Wilson) said that an expert would not be able to find it. Had calls from 01509 553080 and 553082 saying they are from carphone Warehouse Head Office. Am expecting a call back today, but will ask for this deal to be confirmed in email.When you call the numbes back one is a message saying "Carephone Warehouse" the other is a message saying E2Save" is would guess this is not a Carphone warehouse employee and as a result will remove my business from them and go direct with the Service Provider.

I get at least three calls a day from this company who transmit automated tele-marketing messages about me qualifying for a government funded boiler.
