Fraud. I got a recorded message in an American accent saying that a criminal case has been filed against me for tax evasion. I think I am probably stupid enough to accept this and panic, but I don't believe it and burst out laughing. I think the accent tipped me of 'cause the patter was quite believable(NOT!).

Looks like a new number for scammers. Claimed to be from the "Technical Department of Sky", regarding my internet connection. Apparently my router has been sending them reports every time I go online. They hung up as soon as I told them my Sky router hasn't been plugged in for about three years.

They usually work for some third company and call with offer of some goods or services for the actual company they were hired for. Unsolicited call telling me I had PPI payment due and had been sent forms, which I hadn't. Said I was not interested. Told him to send the forms again to get rid of him. Follow up call telling me that although I did to want to proceed this now would have "consequences". Persisted and said no and he put the phone down. Checked the company name on google but nothing identified. An arrogant and rude man to deal with who needs a lesson in telephone communication skills. Be aware.
