"Microsoft" scam, claims she's from Microsoft and there's a problem with my computer and wants to take over my computer to put it right (she must of thought was born yesterday!) so played along with her for a few minutes before calling her a scammer and that there is nothing wrong with my computer. She obviously wasn't happy but she kept the scam going so I kept winding her up making her more annoyed. Eventually her "line manager" must have took over the call and after a bit wind up with him I wound up the

They called saying they work with insurers. I knew it was a scam so played with them a little. I said I was expecting their call and asked if they were from Prudential (who I am NOT insured with by the way) just to test them. The guy said yes eventually and he passed me to his manager. When I asked him about this Prudential association, I think he sussed that I was on to him and he hung up. The worrying thing is that they had my name somehow. They sounded Asian. Number is now blocked of course.

As far as I am concerned all phone callers are potential con artist so I very rarely answer my phone these days. I checked with Homeserve because, coincidentally, I was expecting a call from them but it was not a number that I recognised - It is definitely not Homeserve, it is presumably a scammer. The proper number for Homeserve, if you need them, is 0800 247 999. What worried me and I mentioned it to them, is that Google currently puts ads for the scam number at the top of their search results. Homeserve are looking into this. I hope this information helps.
