The message advises that HMRC wish to speak with you and it may be in your interest to appoint a Solicitor. Then asks that you call back. I called back and an Asian male answered with "This is Her Majesties Revenue Control, how can I help you" I hung up. This is a scam - do not entertain requests from anyone calling from a number that is not on the HMRC website www.gov.uk/government/organisatio

The caller knew my name and wanted me to say whether I was responsible for gas or electricity bills. I told him his call was an intrusion and that I objected to uninvited calls from people I did not know, especially as they usually came at an inconvenient time, as this one had. Similar calls to this have been received all too often. When I feel I am not getting a good deal for a utility I do my own investigating. That resulted in my changing to another company recently.
