Just had a call for this number - an automated message saying it was from HMRC and my name was linked to fraud. I had to press 1 to be connected to an advisor. Failure to do so would mean I would be arrested.....I'll take that risk.

Asked me for my address, which they said was wrong, and kept asking for my previous addresses, saying it will be a previous address and can I confirm my previous addresses. Declined to give them anything further - asked them what it was about, they declined to say anything except "an account" and asked for my username. Call center very unpleasant man asking about replacing windows, I told him it was none of his business & was about to say if I need new windows I’ll contact companies myself but a red mist came over him & in a angry tone he talked over me lecturing me about manners, of which he had none & then he put the phone down. He’s obviously in the wrong job

My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. They estimate readings and send someone over to check for themselves. Southern Electric have made a note of this number. I advis

Call Guardian blocked this caller. I returned the call on my mobile which was answered by "Calls UK" "customer services" (on a mobile number?!). Apparently we have a "policy" re: nuisance calls and we will be contacted again. I said we don t wish to be contacted again and, in fact, our "policy" is rubbish. She then hung up on me. Obviously a scam = blocked.
