Telemarketing I have just had a call fro 07711 421182 with a far-eastern sounding chap with bad english trying to tell me against a background of lots of other people doing the same thing, that he wanted to "help me with [my] investments". SCAM 01772 (Preston Area) 791710 called at 11.15am, recorded message saying "card provider alerting unusual payments to Amazon & Universal Credit Transfer, Press 1 to accept / 2 to decline" But didn't say which card provider and didn't say how much the transactions were. Hung up and rung number back to get message "you have dialled a incorrect number". 99% certain this is a scam. None of my cards have this area code for card enquiries .

The number is from SCAMMERS. When you pick up the phone when they call, you get immediately the waiting music. This is typical scam behavior. If you call back, you probably get into an expensive hotline.
Had a call from this number saying it was a hospital and I have to have a brain operation. Very scary they knew my name when I ask them to send details to my by email they put the phone down

Called my elderly grandad just now (isn?t the first time). He couldn?t understand him so passed the phone to me. An Indian man calling from ?Remote Security? and enquiring about a ?computer or laptop in your house? This is a company which books free home assessments for damp (rising, penetrating, leaks, condensation) and issues caused by insulation previously installed under a freebie government scheme. They use a dialler to make contact and do not charge for their service. If you agree to have a surveyor visit your home they are polite and helpful. Their home assessment is free of charge. If they identify an issue they bring it to you attention. They then compare your home's issue with previous case studies.
Avoid at all costs! Bogus company claiming to be debt management and citizens advice bureau :-/ Very suspicious.
