I believe this to be a telephone/banking scam. They purported to be my bank but they said they wanted me to open another account and transfer money from my account into this other account - at that point I stopped the call and called the number on the back of my debit card and reported the call to my bank fraud department.

The man on the other end sounded as though he was from India. He said he was our internet provider and that we had been hacked and people were using our system. Sounded plausible ( I don't think) I am aware of these scams. When asked you he worked for he said BT it was by when I said we don't have BT but he said he worked for all the big companies i.e. Talk talk. Unsolicited call - telemarketer - they have various numbers they used to call. It can be also Trading online.They disturb very often. It is very annoying.

Called just saying they were the “legal department”. Asked to be removed from database then got really shrieky down the phone at me. Hung-up & blocked.

Consumer research....and as like all these type of operations...when someone actually answers the phone at the customer end, the call is put through to an operator...if there is one available, hence the silence if one is not immediately there. They do state, if calling the number back, to leave your name and number to remove you from the database, which I have....so we shall see if these "nuisance" calls do actually stop!

I received this call too. Same rubbish about impending HMRC lawsuit. The prefix is local to where I live.The people who carry out this kind of thing are scum.
