My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. They estimate readings and send someone over to check for themselves. Southern Electric have made a note of this number. I advis

Teleperformance is an outsourced call centre working on behalf of many different companies. It could be a sales call or one of the companies using the outsourced call centre might need to reach you i.e. Sainsbury s etc.

Asked me for my address, which they said was wrong, and kept asking for my previous addresses, saying it will be a previous address and can I confirm my previous addresses. Declined to give them anything further - asked them what it was about, they declined to say anything except "an account" and asked for my username. They rang to say they were told to to check if my pension details were correct. Told them I was not going to give out any info and put the phone down

A girl called Selina from "shoebox something something " said she got a missed call and to ring her back , sounds a big dodgy. Didn't ring it to be on the safe side

Supposedly from a credit /bank saying they had stopped a payment to western union. It was a recorded message. I hung up. No idea whether a scam or not. Just be careful.
