A automatic phone call saying they are HMRC and that they will pursue legal actions if I dont speak to them... bla bla... a SCAM.
Hi, I keep getting these calls aswell. The only reason I can think for these silent calls, would be to check for active mobile numbers - to later use with scam texts or for compiling a list of 'active' numbers, to be sold on. I am NOT an expert on any of this. I just cant think of another reason for them (no done research either)

This caller, a male with Asian accent, is potentially dangerous. He said he was from BT and that my broadband connection had been compromised. When I explained that I did not have a phone line from BT any more, I asked how could he know that my internet connection had been compromised. There was a few moments of silence while he thought of a suitable answer, then he said that the phone lines were provided by BT. (I'm not a Mum!) and the text said that they are calling from a friends phone and their battery is about to expire so please call them back. I was asked whether the information he was provided was correct - Interested to see where this was going my reply was ' please proceed' I was then spoken to rather rudely ' There is no point proceeding if its not correct' and was hung up on......
