Call received today 15th Feb 2021. Computerised call. Pretended to be from HMRC and that my name was recorded as a tax fraud and a warrant would be issued against me if I didn't press 1 now. I am an accountant in practice who has dealt with the HMRC for 30 years. This a SCAM. The HMRC will never call you like this on such matters. If you do owe money to HMRC only pay them through the secure channels listed on the government website and ensure it is your reference you are making the payment against.
Claim to be Phones4U. Indian guy, lots of noise in the background, all sound non-English. Told him I wasn't interested, and he demanded to know why. Told him I already have a phone, so he started asking questions as to who my supplier for phone line was, what make, how long have I had it etc, all the time I kept telling him that it was none of his business, in the end I hung up.
SCAM - unsolicited call to my landline just before 1pm yesterday, claiming to be a home insurance company (a company name was said but long and quickly spoken - couldn't make it out and didn't recognise it). I interrupted the man and told him firmly that I didn't take cold calls, before hanging up. I am ex-directory....
SCAM: A new scam! Female automated voice, claiming to be from Tesco's, saying that the iPhone I ordered is in, and £££ has been charged to my account. I don’t shop at Tesco’s, and have never had or ordered an iPhone. Disgusting scammers!
This number called saying it was from Her Majesty's Revenue and said that a tax fraud had been registered to my name and said that I needed to press1 I hung up on that. This is clearly a scam that would ask you for bank details.
