Recorded message received today, 11 Oct. 2012. Started "Do not hang up" and claimed to be a Public Information message about a Government scheme to "write off 100 per cent of your debt" by next year. Already beneath contempt, this outfit is using a premium rate number (if I m not mistaken) - and as I am the first to mention this number on this site, we can all look forward to a lot more of it.

Received call, recorded message, pertaining to be HMRC asking me to press a number to talk to them about incorrect tax return. I believe this to be fraudulent and that HMRC would not make contact in this manner.
Recorded message saying the phone company had been trying to contact me about my account, where suspicious activity had been noted, and accordingly I would have my phone and broadband disconnected. This is a dangerous new type of scam using a mixture of voice clips and synthesised voice at their end of the line. It does not respond too well yet if your answers aren't expected - such as asking the machine to run under a bus and then the driver could claim for an accident with them! All the same, it sounds more credible than a foreign call centre type of caller
