Claimed to be calling from British Gas. Called to check our company address and meter number, apparently due to a technical issue with incorrect info on their system. I terminated the call!

SCAM phoned with an indian accent trying to get me to run things on my computer, claiming my internet connectivity has been violated by criminals and that they knew my address, i would go to jail, and if i dont comply the police will be around. Claiming they work for openreach and my theywanted to improve my internet security. they phoned a work office number where this is not true. the line went dead then they phoned me back demanding why did i hang up on them. (i didnt). very dangerous!
Told my 80yr old mother TalkTalk had taken £49 from her account by mistake & they wanted to pay her back! Said they needed to check they had correct debit card details. Gave the details they said they had, which of course were incorrect! His plan

This number has called me a number of times, state that they are calling from national viewpoint. When i ask them to clarify who national viewpoint are/what it is they hang up. Ignore.
When I answered the call an Asian man said he was from "benefits uk" he asked if my postcode was ?????? I hung up straight away as it was incorrect

Line for shared costs, there are more similar numbers reported (just last 2 or 3 digits alternated) - so I assume this should be the same call centre. Do not call them back, whoever it is. Tell me why companies still use payed lines for telemarketing (some other reason than scam?) Did someone answer any number of this range?
