My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. Fraud - Called pretending to be Carphone Warehouse offering cheap deals on phones. They ask for bank details and try to gather as much information from you as possible - not sure of the exact scam but no reputable company cold calls you.
