its a scam even if it is 118 because they sell your data at no gain to you. If its unsolicited hang up because I have never seen any unsolicited call from an unknown person being to your benefit - normally its quite the opposite.
The callers from this number are scammers. They called claiming to be 3 Mobile and wanted me to upgrade to a new contract when I only just renewed my contract with the real 3 Mobile a couple of months back and my existing contract is locked for another 10 months. When I asked the idiot to email me the offer to review, they asked me for my email address and if they were really 3 Mobile they would already have it in their records. 01267279578 Beware it's a scam! It's a phising phone call, spoofing a local phone number, usually made by a computer. DON'T SPEAK if you don't recognise the number - JUST LISTEN, wait for them to speak first. If the caller just hangs up or only a crackling noise is heard and then hangs up, then congratulations you've just escaped being scammed. Well done!
Caller claimed to be from EE customer service, told me I have a good credit rating and I was inline for an upgrade, I informed her I was not an EE customer so then she said I must be an O2 customer, I told her I wasnt and she then droppped the carrier on me as I was suspicious.
Fraud Call purporting to be from BT re my broadband line. As I do not have any equipment or contracts with BT this was clearly a scam. Asian? female caller with background noise suggesting it was some sort of call centre.

Brechin (Scotland) cloned number allegedly from 02. A scam offering 40% off your O2 account. - I know it is a 100% scam as (a) I have had one of these calls before and (b) I ceased to be an O2 customer 4 years ago. Suspect someone hacked their site or an ex-employee has flogged their data to scammers. Foreign guy said he'd send a special code in a text/email but to not divulge it to anyone - probably because everyone gets the same and they don't want you to compare notes!
