Claiming to be from Opus saying that another business had received our meter reading on their bill and were complaining about the high amount they were being asked to pay. Given that our electricity usage is very low, this doesn't seem a likely scenario. Could not satisfactorily answer why if they had made a meter reading cock-up it was anything to do with us. Why would we need to be involved at all? Told them I was suspicious of the call and hung up.

At that point, I told her that I had not had breakfast yet, didn't have my glasses on, and that another time might be a better time. I was fairly polite. Just got a call from this number. The caller siad he was from the Call Blocking Service and claimed that they will stop the nuiscance calls you receive - for just ?40! I heard of this kind of scam before and ironically enough I m already registered with TPS - which is free, by the way. It s clearly a scam since these kind of services are usually free and don t require your credit card information.

A man claiming to be from office of fair trading called saying I had £ 5000 cheque from ppi which they had claimed for me and I had to buy a £250 Ukash voucher and then the cheque would be delivered I questioned this and the caller calling himself Peter McGuire became rather frustrated I said I would look into it and he should call me back tomorrow!
