FrI was caught out by this today. Luckily, I realised after the call ended and was able to change my account details before any damage was done. The scammers knew all of my details - full name, address, email address, how much I'm billed each month - even my security question. They were very convincing. They applied just enough pressure when the texts to change my account detail came in that I didn't have time to read them properly. Thankfully, I read them after the call and got straight on to O2 to change

SCAM: Fifth identical call today, once an hour, from different phone numbers (probably all spoofed) Automated female voice, claiming to be from BT Internet Dept, who have supposedly been trying to call me urgently, because of ‘suspicious activity’ on my account. Had a couple of calls from this number, and one from a similar number. Claim to be British Gas, saying there s been a change in the way I top up and they want to check that the supply is ok etc. I called BG from a number on the BG website, they checked and told me that these numbers are NOT BRITISH GAS. Recommended I add them to my block list, I suggest you do the same.
