Rang claiming to be from Microsoft. Claimed there s a virus on my computer, and asked me to do stuff to rectify it. This is a social engineering thing, trying to get you to install malware and viruses. Don t follow their instructions!

I figured out what this is! It s when a mobile sends a text message to a landline - I rang my husband s mobile from our landline and a minute or so later got a silent call from this number. Husband s mobile sends out an automatic "I m on the phone will call you back" sms if he s on the line -- and this is what the callback was. Mystery solved! I suspect that other callers are being texted on their landlines by friends who select the wrong number to text.

Claimed £600 being taken from a card account from a foreign country. Please press 1 to stop. Checked card accounts no unexpected activity. Did not press anything just closed call.

The same problem. They just keep calling me. I have blocked there number along with other 0161 annoying pointless calls.

NEVER give ANY information to a caller, no matter how convincing they sound. Tell 'em to **** OFF! They'll get the idea . . .

It's a 'clever' automated call, very sneaky and creepy about a "local energy adviser in my area" - not at all human with a bunch of questions and responses that are easy to spot if you know how. Older people will def be taken in - horrible development of technology!
