Called saying they're from Carphone Warehouse, offering me an iphone. Thought I'd play along for a bit instead of hanging up. Asked where they're based so, so I could see if they're far from me. They hung up immediately. Ah well, so much for my game.
Automated call probably a SCAM as rings off when answered. Also why would this have a +44 in front if it was coming from inside the UK?

SPAM Although this call comes up as being from Southampton; it is not. Both my husband and I have had this call several times. On examination, the very nice lady called Jenny said she was calling from South East Asia. I was polite to her and asked that we are taken off he calling list as these continous calls were an absolute nuiscance.

Scam caller claiming to be from Virgin. The call was made by an official sounding call centre (the woman sounded Indian). She claimed that there has been suspicious activity from unknown IP addresses using my account and that it was being used for criminal activity and that she needed to help me protect my firewalls etc. I immediately became suspicious as I'd heard of such calls being made and told her that I'd call Virgin directly to resolve any issues. I was called this afternoon from this number. As I had received a similar unknown number yesterday I answered and a completely unintelligble foreign voice answered. I put the phone back on receiver and have since blocked the number. It was from Bristol yesterday as was today's caller.
We were called by this number to say that £300 had been spent on amazon and over £1000 had been spent on an international transfer. They said to press 1 to allow those transactions. We hung up.
