My brother got a call from this number asking for a gas meter reading. He was not sure where the caller was from but a 1471 and internet search brought up this number as belonging to British Gas. However I am not with British Gas but with Southern Electric, for at least the last 6 years. I called Southern Electric who said they did not call for any reading and would not do so. Fraud Comes up looking like a regular mobile number but it is a automated call informing of your national insurance card been identified and used for fraud. Didn't bother listening to the rest of the call as hung up but googled it and it seems its a relatively new scam not fully logged yet.

We have had 5 calls from this number this week. Husband challenged them why he was calling and was given a load of abuse. Don t know if this has anything to do with it but we recently changed providers from Sky to Plusnet, also we were bombarded with calls like this a few years back when we switched from BT to Sky.the timeing just seams a bit odd
Fraud I did not pick up just listening the voicemail. There was a robot voice who told calling fron HMRC about my tax and if I not calling back they going to send the police. Sooo now, I'm waiting for the police to knock on the door.
