Claim to be virgin media, stating outsiders are trying to use our internet connection for illegal activity and wanting me to confirm my security details so they can be blocked. I said I would like to phone my provider and confirm it personally and they hung up

Undoubtedly bogus. Recorded message telling me about an allegedly bogus credit card transaction with amazon prime.
Fraud, It is a computer message saying you are being investigated for tax fraud and a warrant issued. Press _ etc. Do not respond to the fraudster. Warrants are not issued over the phone and HMRC will write you if they have any queries.
SCAM Very heavy Indian accent reckoned my WIFI was slow - which it isn't. I told him this and he hung up.

SCAM Suggested that they were BT, and that BT about to cut off my phoneline... I rang off.
Suspecting a scam call I dialled 141 (to withold my number) followed by the number and it wasn t recognised. So my suspicion was correct.
