Lady (Indian region accent) said she was from O2 offering 20% discount on current bill. Wanted to know mother's maiden name, how long I've lived at this address, debit card number, etc. When I challenged why they needed this information, she said it was for their verification team to verify who I was. I said if they want to give me discount to go ahead - they've got my account and bank details. I got a call this a recorded message saying that it was from HMRC and they had sent a letter to me which had been returned to them and they were about to start a prosecution against e and I should press the 1 keg to speak to an agent. I immediately hung up. This is an old scam which is apparently still doing the rounds.
