They cold-call phoned me about renewal of insurance on kitchen white goods. They needed some banking details to alter the payment paperwork because they were giving me a no-claims discount. Knew enough about me to make this plausible. I 'needed to go to an appointment' [actually true] so I had to ask them to phone back tomorrow - which they were readily willing to do. "Martin" called from an "events company" about an event in my area blah blah offering a meeting with a money grabbing financial consultant. He talked for so long without pausing to let me answer that I thought it must be a recording. Then he got to the question - do I want to have a meeting - and when I said no he asked why. I began to answer him but he hung up. Cut me off in mid-sentence.
