Bot first spoke saying quotScottish Power are trying to contact you press 1 to talk to an advisorquot I press 1 then some Indian woman asks for my full name and address I say that Im not comfortable giving my address over the phone like that they didnt even say why they were calling then they put me on hold then hung up on me Its either 1 a scam or 2 a bad organisation doing dirty work for Scottish Power Either way theyre untrustworthy and should be avoided

SCAM be careful as this number purports to be from BT and my IP Internet address has been compromised possibly by the Russians or Chinese and could be used for money laundering. When I said I only used Internet for my television he got annoyed and wanted to speak with my husband! Said no husband, so he closed conversation and said he'd call back!!

Automated message saying Amazon Prime membership has ended and you can reactivate by calling and paying £25. I don't have Amazon prime so this is a fraudulent caller.

I was caught out by this today. They claimed to be calling from O2. Luckily, I realised after the call ended and was able to change my account details before any damage was done. The scammers knew all of my details - full name, address, email address, how much I'm billed each month - even my security question. They were very convincing. Got a call from this number (I live in Central Europe, not in UK), they said I have registered for a stock exchage (not correct) and have 6000 USD to claim.

Recorded message to say that I need to verify 2 payments (oress 1,2 or 3). Interestingly it stated my VISA card. I would not expect a call from Russia about card payments, so it must be a scam! Put phone down.

Texted me to say 'thank you' for completing the BT broadband survey, invited me to reply with "NEXT" to have Openreach carry out repairs free of charge. I had not completed a survey so it's obviously a scam. Very convincing text with no spelling mistakes.

Said they were BT, I had too many people using my IP. The account name was wrong. They said they could block them from their server, but it would be better from my PC. After my challenges they sent a text message with a verification code. It said to change my password. I did. Had one previously, real BT support said it was a scam. Assumed this identical call was too. Only the false account name was a clue, otherwise how can you tell?

I suspect this phone number has been cloned and, given the caller's accent and the quality of the line, is being used by a call centre from abroad. Almost definitely a scam.

Lack of customer name or even name of card issuer made call to generic to be legit, so looks like a scam. However since number is a landline looks like the recorded number is also bogus
