When I dialled the number back it came up as 'this number has not been recognised' which tells me it is more than likely to be a scam

Constant calling (only looked at the website) and bombarded calls and emails several times a day. Think Recruitment in a Double Glazing/Ambulance chasing mode!!

did not recognise number. I answered but did not speak. there was a lot of background chatter, possibly a crowded office or call centre. caller just repeated "hello" without any introduction. they gave up after a few moments and just said "ok" and hung up.

No Huntly number starts with 400, so must assume a bogus caller. 3rd such call in last 72 hrs and not answered. Suggest others nit to accept.

Anyone any idea who this might be?

Robot-voiced call claiming my IP address compromised and my line would be cut off later today if I did not press 1 to connect to their engineer. Sounds affy scammy...

Called and asked for someone by surname. I said no sorry I'm Mr ...... And they just hung up! Very professional.

You can use Truecaller to block calls. You will get notification that the number tried to call but when blocked it doesn t actually ring so you are not disturbed. You can pay by setting up direct debit and then cancel so not automatically taken following year. Don t take renewal quote...go on to AA site and get quote. Will be lower than renewal. Some organisations ie NHS get discount. Be smart. Play them at their own game.
