It purported to be from HMRC and legal proceedings have been instituted against me. Told me to press button 1 for further information. This is DANGEROUS THREATENING BOGUS CALL. This is an actual real firm's number. But the number has been taken over by some scammer who is contacting random people. I did not answer the phone in time, so rang back and the company said they had several people ringing back who had been approached by scammers. Awful for them to be used like this.

SCAM A female agent called me with Mobile Phone = 07428693956 at 12:02 pm identifying themselves as BT Customer Services and Security. They said their engineer was working on the line and detected an extra IP address registered at my location. Now BT customer services never ring outbound on a mobile, plus IP addresses are allotted by the router and not by the user. An automated message claimed to be from (non specific) card provider and there were 2 suspicious charges from Amazon. It cut off before end of message but was typical phishing call.

SCAM call received from this number today. Asked for me by name, having called on my ex-directory TPS registered landline number. Said he was Jamie from Pension Redress. As I haven’t asked for any contact from anyone, I hung up.

The caller pretends to be calling from Vodafone, offering discounted line rental and handset. Ask for an excessive amount of personal details.

Said they were Mcafee support, handling issue relating to our home "network" which would mean all devices using network (he meant router) would shortly become infected and stop working. Wanted £200 to fix, as our Mcafee didn't cover "network". Said we'd call back and given this number. Subsequently checked with Currys who support some of our tech who confirmed it's a scam
