SCAM This number called me today. It was a bot voice claimed it is from UK HMRC and asked me to press 1 to speak to an officer. I didn't press, but it is highly suspicious.
Very poor quality recorded message telling me it was my bank security department, hahahahaha. Yeah, right.

This number (with slight variations on the last three digits) has called four times in less than 24 hours. Did not pick up, did not recognise the number but did find that, although the number comes up as United Kingdom, the number(s) are landline in Pskov, Russia. VERY SUSPICIOUS
I am suspicious of this phone number. The man phoning spoke good English with a strong accent and was convincing. He told me he was from AV (antiviral program) and that my recent payment of £149 had not gone through. He offered me a discount policy at £29 for the next year. This is a SCAM. The call started with a woman stating she was from Virgin Media and had noted problems with my router; asked if I had also noticed this. I said I hadn't. She said she could help me resolve the problem. I told her she couldn't, not least because I wasn't with Virgin Media. She told me she could help because all the providers' support centres were working together on this. I told her 'nice try' and hoped the weather was good in Delhi, or wherever she was 'phoning from. Then I hung up.

TAXES / HMRC number called with an automated message saying they were from HMRC and there were mixalcukations in my tax which could result in my passport being suspended, and to select an option to speak to someone. I Che ked tge number and it came up as Russian Federation Pyatigarsk. Don't fall for it!
This appeared to be from a Bank, it didnt say which alleging that there had been two suspicious transactions on my card and asking me to press a number on my phone to accept these transactions. The message was recorded.

I'm guessing spam - didn't let them get far to find out as I kept quizzing them about who they were and never confirming who they are supposed to be talking to. Said they were from a company called something like brnza (couldn't quite understand the accent) saying they want to email me something on behalf of Dell and they read out an email address they wanted me to confirm (which of course I wouldn't). I basically said this call is unauthorised, I refuse you to email me anything and do not call me again.
