Called saying that they are from Citizens Advice Bureau and was enquiring about debts and loans outstanding. I asked for their name and they just hung up.
97 SCAM - Sent me a text saying my paypal account had been temporarily limited and that I had 24h to confirm account information by clicking a (suspicious) link in the message. Of course I logged in to my account and everything was fine.

Called at 13:51 today by a foreign sounding male, who gave an English sounding name. Said he was calling on behalf of Marks & Spencer and stated they had been given my number by the Government. When I said I wasn t the person he was asking for (I was) he said "then why the f**k did you waste my time then you b***h" before disconnecting the call. Charming gentleman.

They rang me 23 times in the last week, I had no choice but to answer - I got someone from economy energy in Glasgow using my first name - not particularly happy with the familiarity in which he tried to talk to me - ended up hanging up only to receive a succession of 5 more quick phone calls - now blocked. Got a call from this number today. The caller said he was from Orange (even though they apparently only go by the name EE anymore so I was already wary). He said he wanted to offer me a reduced bill by combining my EE broadbad and my BT telephone line. He then asked for some personal details, which I was not going to offer him so I just rang off.
Received the text today ! Received on the 26th Dec and referred to 24th Dec. The exact message as above “Attempted Delivery”. This following is clearly obvious “Royal Mail were in Strike on the 24th Dec”. These stupid Thieving Clowns. Now reported to the “National Cyber Security Centre” You can forward the text to 7726 Don’t forget to create the contact and then block the contact. DO NOT CLICK ANY LINKS ! Hope this helps.

Half a dozen calls from this number in the last week. All silent but when, when an Indian lady named Jennie claimed that she was from Microsoft. Hung up when informed that this was not believed.

SCAM Fortunately, I have TruCaller home phone so pushed it straight to the "waiting" queue and as they didn't leave a message or say who was calling did not route through to the actaual phone ring. I already had this number blocked on my Mobile and in Malwarebytes as it claimed to be from BT saying there was a problem with my broadband... when I mentioned that I worked for BT as a fault engineer they immediately hung up :)
Seems to be used for some telemarketing call center - this range of numbers 16893259xx (common feature, they use more numbers of the same range) is mostly reported with Pension review company, PPI. Just block it if not interested (I use the app from these pages, no problems). Folks did they call you with the same or something new? I really don't answer unknown numbers and don't want to call them back...
