The call is annoying. When the phone rings and goes to the answer all that is heard is white noise. The situation is such that we let all calls go the answer machine with the view that the call is for us they will leave a message

They had the cheek to call me again - when I was busy of course - with their wretched recorded message saying it was not too late.
