SCAM: call received at lunchtime on 7.5.2021 to work landline. Caller said they were Emily from Virgin Media about my internet connection. Queried why calling as this was not my internet provider and told that Virgin Media responsible for security of the entire internet! Then said she was in. Virgin Technical Dept. When I said it seemed unbelievable that Virgin Media managed security for entire internet was asked why i hadn’t terminated call. Caller hung up and called me disrespectful!

SCAM / SPAM Indian lady, pretended to be amazon calling to follow up on their scam emails to say that someone had tried to access my account. Didn't like it when i said i'll just delete my amazon account so no reason to ever call me again. people like this make me sick, trying to scam others out of their hard earned money. A woman with heavily accented English called me this morning from a number with our local dialling code saying the call was from BT and there were reports that we were having trouble with the internet. No problems at all and I said so. She asked me to try the internet, so I told her I couldn’t hear her very well. She cut the call. Funny that! I phoned the number and was told it wasn’t in service!!

It's a home appliance insurance scam. They called my elderly mother and tried to make her think it was her existing insurance company but it's actually a fak-ish looking company called J&L Home Assist. They tried to get my mum to hand over her bank details and persisted even when she said she wasn't comfortable doing that. A bit of investigation reveals that there are a number of similar fake companies doing the same thing, all claiming to be in the Bournemouth area.
