They said their engineer was working on the line and detected an extra IP address registered at my location. Now BT customer services never ring outbound on a mobile, plus IP addresses are allotted by the router and not by the user. If you speak then the line is detected as 'a voice phone line' and logged, a scammer will then call you later! If you don't recognize the number calling - DON'T SPEAK FIRST, JUST LISTEN. If you don't hear anything and after a short pause the line goes dead, then you have just successfully escaped being scammed! Well done. THESE CALLS ARE HARASSING AND ALWAYS POTENTIALLY DANGEROUS!

This was the number that called me back after responding to a search on Google for an emergency plumber. The booking for a call out was £50 to start with and then there would be charge for the work done. By the time the plumber arrived a friend had resolved the problem and he was not needed. He still insisted on doing something and then charged £220! When we challenged they reduced it to £150. I advised that this was a total rip off! Do not use 24/7 Emergency Services!

Answered the call and heard an automated voice claiming that HMRC would be initiating legal proceedings against me. Terminated the call before they got any further. Very dodgy.

Asked for email address as I didn't have the time to speak, told them to send me an email as they seemed to have my info, but he could only confirm my name, so I hung up. Probably a scam and I have blocked the number now
