Yeah, these idiots keep calling me too. My advice is to play along and waste their time. I spent hours providing them false contact and banking details. They got really angry when they kept asking me to confirm the account number. It feels so good wasting their time when then had full intentions of wasting myne / whilst trying to rob me blind . said her name was Annie from BT and asked 'HOW IS YOUR INTERNET TODAY'.
An urgent verbal message on a loop advising me that Trojan software had been active on my system and that I should not switch off and should phone this number which I did - they said they were Microsoft (a residential number!?) The person wanted me to hold down the Windows and 'R' keys so that he could correct the problem. I asked him if that enabled him to take control of my machine and he then put the phone down. Seems dodgy.
Rang out. I didn't recognise the number. I did not answer. No message.

Rang my mobile yesterday. So much background noise I could hardly hear what the bloke was saying. Definitely a call centre. Mumbled something about a company I'd bought from 3 years ago trying to re-connect with me. Sweetener was a £50 gift card. Wouldn't take no for an answer. Hung up on him and blocked the number.

Known scam 0845 and 0843 numbers call for a second or two. They rely on you to call back as the number looks official. You are then played a recorded message that is designed to keep you on the line as the call is charged at over a £1 per minute. So you end up paying for the scam and your phone company probably won't help as you made the call willingly.
