This was Durham County Council, they were trying to arrange a visit to come out and see me about a "query" on my housing benefit claim.

This 0147 or 0148 number calls two or three time per day starting at 7.30am. Should be stopped!

1 ring & hang up as all above said. Ofcom say by returning their calls you will be charged UP TO 13pmin landline 43p min mobile (plus setup fee) So dont bother returning their call. Probably just a recorded message anyway.

Nasty pieces of work. It is nasty people from Unite, that so-called trade union who are notorious in the (TV and radio) news for selling out clients to 3rd parties, colluding with employers of their own membership, and selling s**t like stannah stair lifts, private health insurance, Unite s own credit card, enhanced legal services for divorces, deaths of kids and other stuff nobody asked for. They hang up, when challenged for their surnames and call centre location.

I receive calls from this number on my mobile, home phone and work phone, they purport to be from Lloyds Bank, they ask for your date of birth and postcode, I ask them who they are, and what it is about, they say it is a personnel banking matter, I ask them to tell me more in general terms, they tell me to contact my bank, i tell them I have, I then ask them to stop calling me and remove me from their data base and to write instead .
