02045797441 called twice today.8Jun23 First at 11.27hrs, heavily accented voice claimed to be calling from BT about my internet connection, I think! hung up. Second at 12:24hrs, identical number, didn't leave a message. We seem to be getting more scam calls than calls of any meaning. Maybe we should discontinue the landline?

SCAM: A man claiming to from Medical Alert company, offering to sell me a personal alert alarm. A neighbour received the same call, and was taken in, passed on to another person and gave bank card numbers (He has now alerted his bank). This is a dangerous fraud scam to gain access to your bank details. The caller is a recorded message telling you that your tax return has indicated that you have been found to have entered fraudulent details and will be fined or face jail. Then asks you to dial the number one to speak to a tax officer where they try to obtain your personal bank details to scam you. BEWARE
Don't know who it was, they didn't leave a message, I didn't answer the phone because I was preparing lunch. Have now blocked the number because on another site over 600 people received a call today.

Hi Everyone. I wasn't sure whether this message was spam or not, so I rang up Causeway Hospital switchboard and discovered that it was 100% genuine. They put me through to the Validation Team and they had all my details and these were correct. The appointment had been made 2 years ago, so that's why I wasn't sure about it (basically, due to this long covid-related delay, I'd forgotten all about seeing my GP back then and being referred on).
