Supposedly VISA advising me that debits have been made on my card. This is a scam! It is a recorded message expecting a response. The next step is that they want to verify the card number etc and hey ho! you've lost your money.

I'm not too certain about the caller, as he started off by saying both my Company name & personal name, & he'd obviously "done his homework" as when I asked him who was calling, he said the name of my provider. Unfortunately he spoke at the speed of sound, so when I asked, he said he'd speak slower, but then the line disconnected, so I didn't get to find out whether the caller was genuine or not. I missed a call from this number just now (3.4.23 at 12.51). My son works in Glasgow and I was worried that something might have happened. I tried to call it back x3 and each time, after a long pause, the call failed to connect.

Man with strong Indian accent calling himself "Daniel", claiming to be calling from "Microsoft Encarta" and saying that hackers had infected my PC, so he'd need access to it. A complete criminal scam. I told him I needed to go and get my computer, then left him waiting for ages until he eventually hung up. Number now blocked & reported to ICO.

He offered to send an email (knew my email address) and then phone back. I told him to call in an hour as I was busy. No email received and he has not called back. When I checked this number on 'who called me' it made me super-glad I didn't fall for it. This is the most sophisticated scam call I have received - BEWARE !!

Scam call pretending to be Virgin Media (broadband internet). Standard scam pattern. Voices/accents from Indian subcontinent but claiming western names ("Daniel", "Robert", etc). Presumably using in-country telephone redirection service so as to appear with 0161 prefix. Claimed "We are getting errors from your internet connection." Wanted me to download Anydesk software so they could take remote control of my computer.

Text message received from Sants fraud asking me if I had made a pmt of 33458.64 to a Ali Afza? if not to call fraud on the number and not to reply by text. Luckily I worked for Santander so knew it was a scam but it is very convincing.

They have some money to give away so don't ignore them. I got a cheque for £25,000 and they say more will follow.

This was a call about life insurance, and could save £1000 of the policy. They couldn't tell me who my policy was with, or the policy number and had the incorrect post code, so I played along with them, requesting that they give me those details first. They then changed their story and said it was a survey and asked again who my policy was with, and so it went on and on and they gave up. Number blocked from future calls, but that won't work as they have dozens of numbers. Always a woman of foreign descent.
