Asian male caller called me today, for the fourth or fifth time this week (mostly at the same time). Has used a different Anglicised name each day (including Joan once). Twice he has told me that hackers were breaking into my computer and that I need to let him clear out their software and twice he has told me that my licence had run out and I need to renew it or he would cut my computer off. SCAM. On 26.04.21 I received a text from +447585759635 claiming to be a HSBC Fraud Alert and that I had made a payment of £240 to Mr C Jones with a clickable link to confirm my details. I dont bank with HSBC, I never have! I didnt click on this link.
SCAM SCAM pretending to be from Virgin media saying IP address is compromised etc and my connection has been hacked, wanting my account details over phone, ringing from 7am which in itself is illegal for a business to do for a start and number 2 i am not even on Virgin media lol. An angle grinder to the phones mic soon made them hang up(noisiest thing to hand). This is the 5th time now in 2 days always Asian caller, all different numbers but saying same thing about connection etc. DO NOT GIVE YOUR DETAILS

Rang claiming to be from BT. Stated that our internet would be disconnected for 4 days and that he needed access to our computer to "rewire" a temporary connection free of charge to bridge the gap. I m an IT consultant and so strung him along for a while to waste his time, then told him what I did for a living. He hung up. Not sure where the money angle was going to come from, but guarantee that they would have either infected my PC or tried to scam me out of money for a fake support contract.
