Called me and implied that they were operating on behalf of my estate agent and this was the 'next step' in the purchase of my new property. Tried to get my address details claiming that it was all part of 'data protection' - when I said 'heck no - I'm not giving you any details' then they doubled down on the the claim that they were operating on behalf of my estate. Very upsetting.

Claimed to be calling from "credit investigation unit" and government had shortlisted me to write off 90% of my debt. I got him to stop, then said I was recording the call and began quizzing him. The story he spun twisted and flipped, wouldn't answer how/why the government knows what my credit status is, or who compiles the shortlist, or where his employer got it. I repeated that I was recording the call and suggested it was a scam. He swore and cut off the call.
said his name was 'jai' or something similar sounding. asked if I do marketing then my ethnic background. said he needed help with google. Told him I don't deal with google, he claimed no available help at google. when I said I can't help with google and to contact them, he said only 'he can set his password'. Indian chap, allegedly from Carphone Warehouse. Said I could have a 5g phone with 80Gb of data, etc., for £7 a month. Sounded too good to be true, which means it probably is, so I passed. He then complained that I had wasted his time! I guess his next move would have been to ask for my bank details! Avoid!

I received a voicemail from this number today. It went on for at least several minutes (I hung up in the end) and it was just an assortment of inaudible strange noises. Very weird.

Scam and/or phishing attempt. It attempted to get me to message the phone number via WhatsApp. The person had sent an SMS from another number (07566706069) claiming to have dropped their phone down the toilet and that they’d instantly acquired a new phone. They asked me to message specifically via WhatsApp (???). This is the fourth message I’ve had this week, from a variety of unknowns, being asked to message a new number by someone claiming to have lost/damaged their phone.
Is this a telemarketing company asking for business?
This number claims to be from EE, although I do not have an EE account. Please be weary, it is most probably scam artists. Don't answer and block the number.
