This was a recorded message to say illegal activity had been on my internet which would be cut off in 24 hours. I was to press 1 to speak to someone. Clearly an attempt to get into my computer so cut it off.

They said they were calling from HMRC, however HMRC never calls mobile numbers. Phone scams are a common way for criminals to con people out of money using various tricks to get your personal or financial information. Claimed to be from BT OpenReach. Explained they were contacting people re internent connection. (1) Was asked if internet speed was okay. Replied upload/download speed fine. Was asked for precise speeds. Said I wasn't in front of a computer but upload/download speed fine. Had to say this three times. (2) Was told my area experiencing slow speeds. Explained internet speed fine. (3) Was told I would be cut off later today. Started to explain I wouldn't and that I didn't take kindly to threats but was cut
SCAM / SPAM Just had a guy call from 02081610220 and say there are problems with free insulation I had installed a couple of years back and said they needed to come round and survey it. Then asked if I was a homeowner. I said he would know that if he was who he said he was and what company is he calling from - he immediately hung up!!!

Typical pattern: "We called you x-months ago & you agreed to place advertising with us in a crime prevention booklet" & when I denied the call their first line was, "But we have recorded evidence" (great business approach to customer relationships & satisfaction!). I have requested a copy of the recording several times & they agreed to send it, but it never arrived. They have sent invoice; payment reminders; continuous phone calls

SCAM Claims to be from Virgin Media stating may have noticed Internet is running slow. They then try to get you to download an app to speed it up but it really allows them remote access to all your devices that are connected to the Internet. DO NOT download this app even if pressured to do so.
