I had asked for PPI help but do not understand these stupid 2 ring calls?
Phoned telling me they had a cheque to send for refund of bank charges. Had my name and address, wanted my date of birth. When asked which bank were refunding charges just repeated UK Financial Services. Told me they would cancel cheque if I didn t give date of birth. I said that would be fine and hung up. Its time uk phone numbers were stopped from being given to overseas callers.

Automated answer informed me that my national insurance and bank accounts had been suspended. A crime number had been issued and court proceedings instigated. I was to press “1” to speak to operative. Safe to say I hung up. Strangely the actual phone number is very close to my own phone number….only a couple of digits out.

Called and like others, reported to be from Microsoft, said that they had the serial number of windows that was reporting that my computer was being hacked as we spoke by a criminal gang (how ironic!) and that they were from an agency who needed to stop the gang by stemming the flow through my PC.....Said we know an IT expert who we would ask to take a look ourselves, he (called himself Peter Wilson) said that an expert would not be able to find it. Fraud caller said his name was Brian and he worked for Microsoft and based in Reading. Told me that I had down loaded illegal material on my computer, to log on and he would clear it. when I declined he threatened me by "blocking" my internet access. I suggested he do that and I would call him back to be reconnected. He hung up!

Question of whether there has been fraud on my account remains unsolved - l was unable to give the exact year that l opened my account - approx 40 years ago - and so failed my telephone security check .
