I tried to book a room at The Principal Oxford Spires Hotel, Abingdon Road, OX1 4PS, Oxford and called a number 08448542910 indicated on their website. I had to call twice as there was an automated telephone service and no one was able to answer my phone calls. Last month I saw a charge of 1.38 GBP plus VAT on my phone bill!! What a wrong way to make money!! Looks like the hotel is doing that badly so they have to charge potential customers to simply book a room. According to the reviews on the above number

The caller stating saying about the RSPCA so I listened to what he was saying and as he went on realised he was going to ask for money, ?10 a month thats all, I said no thanks, then he went on about cruelty to animals and said what about ?1 a week, I still said no thanks, had to hang up in the end

I have not answered to these people. Not once. Yet, they call at least weekly. I ve got a years line rental with BT paid for up-front, which allows me to block 99% of unwanted calls (with a BT blocker phone purchased separately, in case anyone was wondering). This caller would likely be asking to speak with Mr Strevitt or Mr Gwendoline. As has been the nature of the calls for the past 3 years. As a person who works in the It industry I can tell you that these people are not qualified to be "Microsoft certified technicians. They lack the knowledge and expertise. They are extremely persistent about these" hackers" and "viruses" when most of them probably don t exist in the first place. As the other guy said, play around with them. It s fun!
